Build Whatever Server Mode Advisor
A short decision tree for the only setting that decides whether your house exists tomorrow.
You do not need a spreadsheet. You need to answer three questions and obey the result.
Question 1 — Must this build exist tomorrow?
Yes → create or rejoin a free private server. Stop reading until you have a marker block that survives a relog.
No → public is allowed. Continue.
If you hesitated, the answer is yes. People who hesitate are the ones who write “my house vanished” comments.
Question 2 — Are strangers allowed to break it?
No → private, invite-only. Read play with friends before you send the link.
Yes → public, and you accept TNT. Bring a disposable copy, not the master. Protect if you insist on staying.
Question 3 — What is the mood?
- Studio → private, no destruction passes equipped
- Tour → private with friends, or a public replica
- Sport → public, slap and rockets expected
- Tired of people → official escape hatch: Build Anything With Friends
If the mood is tired and you still queue public, you are choosing the rating bomb you will leave later. The review already explained that loop.
Quick matrix
| Save needed | Strangers | Mood | Mode |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yes | No | Studio | Free private |
| Yes | Yes | Tour | Private master + public replica |
| No | Yes | Sport | Public |
| Yes | No | Tired | Private or sister game |
| No | Yes | Tired | Leave Roblox |
Special cases
Mobile data and kids: private first, always. A single Bat pass in a public lobby is a tantrum you cannot pause.
Showing a finished castle: screenshot in private, then decide if the public tour is worth a possible wipe.
Testing TNT you just bought: public or a wreck yard. Never the save.
Looking for codes or scripts: neither server type will spawn them. See active codes and the scripts list.
After you pick
Set a timer. Public sport sessions are better as twenty-minute hits. Studio sessions can run long because the instance is quiet. When the timer ends, screenshot four sides. That habit is the real backup tool.
If you pick wrong, you will feel it in one explosion. Hop. Do not rebuild on the crater and hope the next stranger is kind. Kindness is not the public ruleset. The description already told you that.
Why this page exists beside the save guide
How to save builds teaches the button. This page teaches the stubbornness. Most wipes happen after someone already knew about private servers and queued public “for a minute.” The minute is the product. The product deletes houses.
If you keep failing question 1, write the word PRIVATE on a sticky note. It is a better tool than Blocks Shield. Shield is for the days you chose public on purpose. Sticky notes are for the days you lied to yourself.
Pair the result with the Gamepass picker so the shop matches the lobby. Private + TNT is a waste. Public + Furniture is a donation to the next bat.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for the searches this sandbox actually creates.
Is public ever the right mode for a real house?
Only if you already have a private master copy or you truly do not care if it dies.
Do I need Robux for the good mode?
No. The advertised save path is a free private server.
When should I use the sister game?
When this lobby's troll fantasy is the problem and you still want to build with people you like.
Can I switch modes mid-session?
Yes. Leave, open private, keep building. Do not try to "finish real quick" on a public floor that is already on fire.
